Sterile Five
|
A Sterile Five is where the action of high-fiving is made without contact being made as the two fivees are scrubbed in for surgery. Similar to an Air Five, with the distinguishing feature being that the two fivees can't make contact due to needing to remain sterile.
The Sterile Five is used by Dr Todd Quinlan in episode four of season three of the TV series Scrubs (this episode also features the Miss you Five) The Todd needs to high five during surgery and so brings out the Sterile Five!
A Delayed Five could be used as an alternative for a Sterile Five.
The Sterile Five was originally brought to our attention by Jonathan Womack ages ago but its taken a while to write it up. Thanks Jonathan, and please excuse our slowness!
