National High Five Day is celebrated on the third Thursday of April each year. It was born back in 2001 on the campus of the University of Virginia in the US of A when three inspired students decided to spread the good word of High Fiving to their fellow students via the medium of lemonade and comic strips.

The first event was a complete success to the extent that some professors wouldn't begin teaching until they had had a high five from their pupils.

They also successfully managed to get the city of San Diego to recognise National High Five day and make it a city holiday, something which we hope to replicate here in the UK.
